People who survived the catastrophe, either in groups, by hiding underground or in a fortified place together, or singly, through various means. These hardy people lived to see and tell tales of extreme difficulty and privation. Families were dispersed, loved ones were lost. The stress of their experiences often left them unable to cope with society, or to accept the presence of another human being. But survivors thrive best together.
